Wildlife Messages 2006

Dear friend,

I am using my blogspot to showcase my annual Wildlife Messages and the hand-painted Wildlife Message cards. These cards, depicting the picture of an animal, bird or butterfly, are individually hand-drawn and painted along with an apt 'message'. They are posted to individuals throughout the world to reach them during the wildlife week observed in India (Oct 1-7). I have been doing this to show my love and concern towards nature since 25 years. Please view them and feel free to express your sincere opinion on them.

ಒಂದೊಂದು ಅರಳಿ, ಬೇವು, ಆಲ; ಹತ್ತು ಹುಣಿಸೆ; ಮೂರು-ಮೂರು ಬೇಲ, ಬಿಲ್ವ, ನೆಲ್ಲಿ ಹಾಗೂ ಐದು ಮಾವಿನ ಗಿಡಗಳನ್ನು
ಯಾವಾತ ನೆಟ್ಟು ಪೋಷಿಸುತ್ತಾನೋ ಅವನು ನರಕವನ್ನು ಕಾಣುವುದಿಲ್ಲ.

ಮಿತ್ರರೆ,

ಪ್ರಪಂಚದ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಧರ್ಮಗಳಲ್ಲೂ ಸ್ವರ್ಗ-ನರಕದ ಕಲ್ಪನೆಯಿದೆ. ಮನುಷ್ಯ ಸತ್ತ ನಂತರ ಸ್ವರ್ಗಕ್ಕೆ ಹೋಗಲು ಈ ಭೂಮಿಯ ಮೇಲೆ ಯಾವ ಯಾವ ಕಾರ್ಯಗಳನ್ನು ಮಾಡಬೇಕು ಅಥವಾ ಏನೇನು ಮಾಡಬಾರದು ಎಂದು ಈ ಧರ್ಮಗಳು ಸಾರುತ್ತವೆ. ಆದರೆ ನಿಜಕ್ಕೂ ಈ ಸ್ವರ್ಗ-ನರಕಗಳನ್ನು ಕಂಡವರು ಯಾರೂ ಇಲ್ಲ.

ಒಂದು ಕ್ಷಣ ಹೀಗೆ ಆಲೋಚಿಸಿ: ಒಂದು ಮುಂಜಾನೆ ನೀವು ಎದ್ದು ದೂರದ ಬೆಟ್ಟದ ತುದಿಗೆ ನಡೆದು ತಲುಪಿದ್ದೀರಿ. ಅಲ್ಲಿಯ ಆ ಸುಂದರ ವಾತಾವರಣ, ತಂಪನೆ ಬೀಸುವ ಕುಳಿರ್ಗಾಳಿ, ಮರ-ಗಿಡಗಳ ಕಲರವ, ಹಕ್ಕಿಗಳ ಇಂಚರ, ಎಲ್ಲವೂ ಅನುಭವಕ್ಕೆ ಬಂದಾಗ ವಾಃ! ಎಂಥ ಸ್ವರ್ಗ! ಎಂದುಕೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತೀರಿ. ಅಲ್ಲಿಂದ ಹಿಂದಿರುಗಿ ಊರಿಗೆ ಬಂದಾಗ ನಿಮಗೆ ಕಾಣುವುದು ಅದೇ ಕಾಂಕ್ರೀಟು ಕಾಡು, ಅದೇ ಧೂಳು, ಅದೇ ವಾಹನಗಳ ಆರ್ಭಟ, ಅದೇ ಕೊಳೆತ ವಾಸನೆ ....ಛೀ! ಇದೆಂಥ ನರಕ! ಎಂದು ಮೂಗು ಮುರಿಯುವವರೂ ನೀವೇ. ಆದರೆ, ಇಂತಹ ನರಕವನ್ನು ಸೃಷ್ಟಿಸಿದವರು ಯಾರು? ನಾವೇ ಅಲ್ಲವೆ?

ಒಂದು ಸಸ್ಯವನ್ನು ನೆಟ್ಟು ಪೋಷಿಸಿದರೆ, ಅದು ಬೆಳೆದು, ಅಸಂಖ್ಯಾತ ಜೀವಿಗಳಿಗೆ ಆಶ್ರಯವನ್ನೂ, ಆಹಾರವನ್ನೂ ನೀಡುತ್ತದೆ. ಇಂತಹ ಮರಗಳ ಗುಂಪನ್ನು ನೀವು ಬೆಳೆಸಿದರೆ ಸ್ವರ್ಗದ ಒಂದು ತುಣುಕೇ ನಿಮ್ಮ ಕಣ್ಣ ಮುಂದೆ ಬೆಳೆಯುವುದನ್ನು ಕಾಣಬಹುದು! ಮಾನವನ ಯಾವ ಕೈಗಳು ನಾಡನ್ನು ನರಕವಾನ್ನಾಗಿಸುವವೋ ಅದೇ ಕೈಗಳಿಂದ ಸ್ವರ್ಗಸದೃಶವಾದ ವಾತಾವರಣವನ್ನೂ ನಿರ್ಮಿಸಬಹುದು!

ನಾವೆಲ್ಲ ಕೈಗೂಡಿಸೋಣ. ಜಗತ್ತಿನಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಜೀವದ ಪ್ರತಿ ಅಣುಅಣುವೂ ಸುಖದಿಂದ, ಶಾಂತಿಯಿಂದ, ಸಹಬಾಳ್ವೆ ನಡೆಸುವಂತೆ ಮಾಡೋಣ.

Dear friend,

The concept of Heaven and Hell are nothing new to humankind. Heaven is a place of eternal bliss and peace and in hell there is total chaos and ceaseless hostility. All religions prescribe the dos and don’ts to us that have an ultimate aim to reach heaven after death. None of us really has ever seen the heaven or hell.

For a moment, please imagine: It is an early morning and you have walked to the top of the hill that is outside your township. The serene atmosphere, cool breeze and the sound of the wind from the rustling leaves… Involuntarily you exclaim, “Oh! What a Heaven!” Later, you return to your town. There you find the same concrete jungle, the same dust, smoke, and noise of the vehicles, rotten smell… I am sure, you would utter, “What a hell!” Who is responsible for creating this hell? Aren’t we?

When you plant a tree, it grows and gives shelter and nourishment to innumerable life forms. If you grow a grove of such trees, you will indeed see a small piece of paradise growing in front of you ! The same human hands that created the hell can also make it a heavenly place to live in !

Let us join hands to make our only Earth, a place where all elements of life can live in health, happiness and harmony.
