Wildlife Messages 2007

None could love more than our mother,
None could console, foster or feed more than our mother.

Dear friend,

Mother is the living god. She gives us knowledge; she is ever-loving, selfless, patient, sacrificing and pardons all our misdeeds. These virtues of a mother are seen in even lowly creatures. Their lifecycle is an arduous journey of innumerable obstacles and unexpected events. I will give the example of a hookworm that lives in our intestines. A hookworm lives by holding on to the inner surface of the small intestine and absorbing blood from us. Its eggs come out in the faeces and they hatch into larvae on the ground. When anybody steps on them, they immediately attach themselves, pierce through the skin of the sole and enter the blood stream. Then they go to the heart, thence to the lungs and crawl up the throat. When we swallow, they find their way into the food pipe and reach the intestines, again to start a new life. They lack a digestive system of their own; as they live in the complete darkness of the gut, they do not have eyes; they have no friends, so are deaf and dumb; they do not have to move around, so are devoid of hands and legs. Now, tell me: here is an animal without eyes, nose, ears, voice and both the limbs. Do you think that with all these deficiencies anyone can lead a life? Is there is any purpose in their life? But, the mother of a hookworm like any mother has ambitions: She wishes all her children to live a more happy and contented life than her. So she lays more than 1200 eggs daily and blesses them!

We see the same motherly virtuousness in the Mother Nature. She too has given birth to millions of lives on this Earth and nurtures them all with equal love and affection. Everyday we torture, humiliate and dig wounds on her body and kill the other lifeforms unscrupulously and without purpose. Mother Earth bears with all our mischief with endurance and forgives us. But for how long?

Let us join hands to make our only Earth, a place where all elements of life can live in health, happiness and harmony.

Thank you.

Dear Dr.Narasimhan,

Just impressed by the posts. Keep them coming. Its for sure going to inspire a lot of us.

By the way, I was wondering if the title should have been "Wildlife Messages 2008" instead of 2007? Just wondering.

Besides cards, I'd like to read about your interesting experiences in the forest when you went there to watch the birds or took the children there for awareness. Please share them with us in the blogs. I'm sure you will now have a digital camera too to shoot pictures in the forest and save them in your albums in your computer!!
